Badrinath

One day in March 2009, I was called by my friend that the Ravalji of Badrinath had come to Bangalore and he needed some medical intervention for his health issues. So my friend suggested that the Ravalji consult me and she called. The Ravalji went through the procedures of diagnosis and treatment. Before leaving he invited us to Badrinath. What I can tell you simple words is that, meeting the Ravalji and everything after that was God's planning and He was in-charge of our pilgrimage.

The Unfolding of Miracles

We had not planned on our stay at Delhi, Rishikesh or Badrinath. We had a strong feeling that all will be taken care of.

Miracle 1 - A few days before we left for Delhi, a patient called from Delhi and asked us whether we were to come to Delhi. I answered in the affirmative and we quickly fixed appointments to see his mother and brother.

On the train, we met Sunita who was the wife of an Indian Army Officer. She was going to give us our next miracle. I will come back to her later in the story.

We started for Delhi on the 26th April. We had carried only Rs.6000 with us. My wife Sudha knew that everything would be okay, yet worried at the back of her mind whether this amount was sufficient. Common sense tells us this is in-sufficient.

On reaching Delhi, we were driven in their car to theirPeacock in Delhi house in Delhi. We not only had the comfort of a homely atmosphere but also had peacocks in the vicinity. We enjoyed seeing peacocks. With my work done, I was handsomely reward, we were well taken care of, and after dinner we left for Rishikesh.

Miracle 2 - Having reached Rishikesh, we went to Parmarth Niketan Ashram where we accommodated ourselves. I was carrying with me a card that I was given by a Tour Operator. I called Mr. Rakesh Bhartwal and he asked me to come the next day at 10.00am.

When we met Rakesh Bhartwal the next day, another miracle unfolded. I told him I had the honour of looking into Ravalji's health and he was overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude. Rakesh immediately reduced the taxi fare we discussed with him by Rs.1000. More was to come from him as miracles.

Another arrangement made by one of our friends in Rishikesh was our experience of River Rafting. We enjoyed the 16 kms in all which was a 2 1/2 hours experience.

Miracle 3 - We were leaving for Badrinath the next day and after Ganga Arati, I went to the Reception. A form was given to fill with questions asked what we do and how we could contribute to the Ashram. I wrote about my work and thought it would be filed and put away.

What happened was that Subhash, the person at the Reception actually read it and asked me whether I could see someone just then. I agreed. He asked me to stay put at the reception, quickly went inside and returned within 5 minutes to escort me to meet Alkaji, Secretary to Muniji, the Chief of Parmarth Niketan Ashram. After meeting her and fixing an appointment on my return from Badrinath, we started the next morning. How this turns into a miracle... you will read ahead.

Enroute to Badrinath, we were taken care of with breakfast and lunch provided at appropriate times. On reaching Badrinath, we were hosted in an Ashram dormitory. Sudha was anxious about privacy and toilet facility. Again, we were waiting for some miracle to happen.

With RavaljiAfter we relaxed a while and cleansed ourselves, we went to meet Ravalji. Here we were lucky to see the utsav murthy. Ravalji was happy to see us in Badrinath and when Sudha asked Him to narrate a miraclous experience, He said, "everything that happens here is a miracle." He told us, "as long as you stay in Badrinath, you will have meals at our residence." And Ravalji's cook told us that the food that is served is the same food that is offered to Lord Badrinarayan in the temple.

That night, we were accommodated in another room which had wall to wall carpeting. We were introduced to Mr.Sankaran, paternal uncle of Ravalji who has built the Ashram to
